The US Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census (BOC) Philadelphia Regional office is seeking to fill Field Representative positions located in the Richmond, VA metropolitan area including Richmond City, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg and the counties of Amelia, Caroline, Charles City, Chesterfield, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, King and Queen, King William, Louisa, New Kent, Powhatan, Prince George, and Sussex. Re-location support is not authorized. The minimum salary is $12.53/hr. and 53 ½ cents for each mile driven for official business.
Ideal candidates will be responsible for communicating with respondents, supervisors, and other persons as appropriate; read survey materials and conducts door-to-door surveys; explain the purpose of the survey, asks questions as worded on the questionnaire or survey instrument, and enters accurate and complete information into a laptop computer or onto survey forms. Occasionally you may be required to lift boxes of survey material or laptops weighing up to 30 pounds. You will also have to maintain personal payroll records that reflect hours worked, miles driven, and reimbursements for travel and communications claimed.
