Feds Hire Vets - Vet to Vet

Being born and raised here in Washington D.C., we were taught lessons about public service very early on. My father was the Director of Safety and Security for the Department of Transportation, my mother was the Special Assistant to the City Administrator in Washington D.C., and my brother has been a Metropolitan Police Officer for 26 years. So at the age of 19 I joined the United States Navy and found my calling as a Master of Arms, working in Antiterrorism around the globe. Coming up thru the ranks as a patrolman, Explosive K-9 Handler during Iraqi Freedom, managing the Security Department onboard the USS JOHN F KENNEDY CV-67, an eight month deployment in support of Operation New Dawn, and three months after Capt. Philips was captured by Somali pirates I was conducting Anit-Piracy Operations for three years. After a year of applying for federal jobs, I was interviewed (and I was hired) as Security Specialist at the Department of Labor. My DOL leadership has allowed me to excel by bringing my expertise to the table, encouraging me to complete my degree in Criminal Justice, and mentor others. The knowledge, skills, and qualifications I obtained thru the Navy has allowed me to have the confidence to pursue my Federal employment, and now I'm paying it forward to those who are coming behind me by helping them to understand USAjobs, helping them with resumes, and supporting them as best I can.
