I enlisted in the military in 2003, and was deployed in 2005. I was
discharged in 2008 due to service-connected disabilities. I was accepted into
the Vocational Rehabilitation program in 2012 through the Veterans Affairs
Administration and graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Business Management
in March of 2016. I began working at the VA to be able to help other Veterans
by processing claims and to give back to those who are in need of benefits that
they have earned by serving their country. I have been able to use my military
experience to assist with reading military documents, relating to other
Veterans, and to understand the process that Veterans go through while applying
and waiting for responses from the VA for their claims. I am able to empathize
with Veterans, their families, and situations. I have promoted the VA to other
Veterans and educate them about benefits that they are able to apply for.
Giving back to those who have served is a high priority and true passion of
mine. Working with other Veterans and helping those in need is a rewarding and
satisfying position and I cannot think of a better way to support my family.
Working for the VA is not just a career; it is a passion that stems to all
avenues of my life. The VA's core values and mission align with my military
background and personal ethics, I am proud to work at that VA.
