I was born and raised in Trinidad, and after migrating to the United States in 2005, I developed a sincere appreciation for my new home. My appreciation manifested into public service to the American people, so I enlisted in the U.S Air Force. I was 21 at the time, and little older than the average Airman, with the intention to commission into the officer ranks. However after servicing 4 years I had a change in plans and I decided to get out and continue my career as a civilian, I got my undergraduate while on active duty, so I capitalized on the Post 9/11 GI Bill, I started my Master of Business Administration. After completing my graduate degree, I applied to several Federal, state, and local Government positions. After 6 months of applying for jobs, I interviewed (and I was hired) for a Business Opportunity Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration. My military experience coupled with my education gave me the confidence to pursue the Federal employment, and I am now one of Business Opportunity Specialist providing business development and other assistance, to firms in the 8(a) Business Development program, at the U.S. Small Business Administration in Washington, DC.
