Feds Hire Vets - Vet to Vet

I was born in the Bronx, New York and moved to Overland Park, Kansas when I was 6.  Talk about two extreme areas of our country!  I was the first in my family to attend college, and without the support of the United States Air Force I probably wouldn’t be here in DC today!  I was fortunate enough to receive a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps scholarship in Accounting that sent me in a path I never dreamed of. After graduating college I served for 23 years around the United States and world to include Hawaii, England, and Afghanistan. I have worked in a variety of budget, accounting, and working capital fund positions over my career that provided key analysis skills suited for a federal position. Upon retiring from active duty in 2016, I applied for career positions in the DC area when I came across a Program Analyst (Financial Analysis) position with the Human Resources Solutions team at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. I knew I was qualified for the position and my interview further confirmed my belief. I was fortunate to be offered the opportunity and happily accepted the position. I have been in the job for a little over 7 months and it has been fantastic so far! While I've had to get used to the new office lingo of a federal agency, the core knowledge I possess has transferred over perfectly. I have been able to hit the ground running and quickly provided value for the team as we navigated through year-end closeout. I am very humbled to have this opportunity and very fortunate to continue my service to the United States!
