Office ensures that this entire process is performed in an appropriate and
business-oriented manner. The person
selected for this position will develop an understanding of Federal and EPA
grants requirements in order to advise and guide EPA program managers and
assistance recipients regarding their projects.
EPA grants management is a very dynamic area. Responsibilities include
evaluating and reviewing costs identified in grant applications for federal
funding and monitoring grantee compliance; implementing and interpreting
provisions of statutes, regulations, policies, procedures and practices;
participating in pre-application conferences; performing cost reviews, cost
analysis, and related functions; responding to verbal and written inquiries;
and providing advice and guidance to management and assistance recipients
related to grants and assistance agreements. EPA provides on-site technical
assistance to Tribal grant recipients; some travel to Indian Country within the
Region 8 area is required.
Experience that is helpful toward success in this
position may include but is not limited to: working well with diverse
populations; skill with managing multiple projects under short- and long-term
deadlines; reviewing applications and financial documents for accuracy;
resolving or making recommendations on resolution of problems/issues;
performing research; interpreting policies, regulations and laws; responding to
verbal and written inquiries; and using office automation software to develop
correspondence and reports, spreadsheets, track data, etc.
