Feds Hire Vets - Vet to Vet

I was hired in the Contracting SCEP Program as a GS4 to work for the United States Corps of Engineers (USACE) Headquarter in Washington DC in 2011. After a year, I was picked by the Air Force in the COPPER CAP Program. The COPPER CAP Program is designed to prepare college graduates for careers as Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) Contract Specialists. Contract Specialist trainees are assigned to work with professional Contracting Officers and receive formal and on-the-job training in all aspects of contract management, including requirements definition, solicitation preparation, price justification, negotiation and award, and administration of contracts. I have completed my DAWIA (Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act) Level I Certification, and I am two courses away receiving my Level II Certification.
