Mission: To enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States according to the law; to ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic; to provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime; to seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior; and to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.
Cortez Puryear serves as the Veterans Employment Program Manager for the U.S. Department of Justice which includes several organizations worldwide. In this role, he is responsible for promoting employment opportunities for veterans, consistent with Executive Order 13518.
Cortez’ professional career outside of DOJ includes 28 years of combined Army active duty and Army Reserve time as a Personnel/Quartermaster Officer and over 17 years working for Department of the Army’s transition program, Army Career and Alumni Program (ACAP) at Headquarters Army Human Resources Command in Alexandria, Va. ACAP provided mandatory pre-separation counseling, transition and employment assistance for Soldiers and their families separating from the military. ACAP has 51 centers worldwide. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Clarion in Pennsylvania.
